Granite is the material that forgives a working kitchen
Granite came out of the ground, which explains both its advantages and its quirks. It handles heat that would damage most other surfaces. It is hard enough that a dropped pan is a problem for the pan. And every slab is genuinely different, so the piece in your kitchen is not repeated in anyone else that year.
The quirks are worth knowing before you buy. Granite is porous, so it needs sealing about every six months to keep oil and wine from soaking in. Pits and small fissures are natural to the stone and not defects, though resining at the quarry reduces how many you see.
We specialize in 3 cm granite. We do not work in 1 cm. If a project calls for a thin profile, we use porcelain instead and tell you why.

Granite questions
How often does granite need sealing?
About every six months. It takes ten minutes with a bottle from the hardware store. A simple test: put a few drops of water on the surface and wait fifteen minutes. If it darkens, it is time to seal.
Can I put a hot pan straight on granite?
Granite handles temperatures well past anything that comes out of a home oven. Use a trivet for glass and Pyrex anyway, because the thermal shock is a problem for the dish, not for the stone.
There are little pits in the slab. Is that a defect?
No. Pits and small fissures are natural to stone and appear in almost every granite. They are not cracks, and they do not spread. The quarry fills the larger ones with resin before the slab is polished.
Will my granite look like the photo online?
Not exactly, and anyone who says otherwise is selling. Two slabs cut from the same block already differ. That is why we ask you to come to Kissimmee and pick the actual piece.
Do you work with 1 cm granite?
No. We work in 3 cm, and in 2 cm when a color is not available thicker. For a thin profile look we use porcelain.
